Nowhere Man: Netflix
THE FIRST EVER MANDARIN NETFLIX ORIGINAL
Netflix Originals has once again broken new ground, this time with a mandarin language original series — Nowhere Man.
Shot and set in the grimy streets of Taiwan, the show follows the story of death row inmate Quan who tries to save his son and protect his family. It is a mind-bending tale woven with brotherhood, alternate realities and the dangerous underbelly of society.
In collaboration with a media buy agency, our task was to launch Nowhere Man in the streets of Taiwan, creating unmissable hype.
Reimagining the triad stereotype
In Taiwan, the triad genre has grown tired and formulaic, alienating younger audiences and boring the older ones. Nowhere Man is a breath of fresh air that retells the age-old story of Taiwan through the lens of modernity and popular Taiwanese culture. In order to retell this story in an experience, we looked into the current landscape and culture of Taiwan.
Building on the strong sense of communal spirit and shared fight for their independence, we came up with “Made Here” — the overarching approach that shaped our experiences.
We wanted the launch to be everywhere but nowhere, paralleling the strong themes of alternate and transient realities.
